We transform organizations and their leaders by helping people work together effectively, make good decisions, and make a difference in their communities.

We serve a wide variety of public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and values-driven companies who play key roles in making their communities better places. While our client base is broad, at the core we have a few areas of focus:Elected Councils Boards and Commissions; Land Conservation; Community Collaborations and Public Task Forces; Social Justice; Housing and Community Development; Sustainability; Grantmakers and Social Investors; Health and Human Services; and Education.

We bring the best of organizational development to these groups, and we also bring years of experience and the lessons of hundreds of clients. In most cases, these are also the areas where we contribute our time and talent to our communities. The vast majority of our sweat and toil will take place in these nine focus areas.

Payroll and Benefits

GNSA takes a “Best of Breed” approach to providing Payroll, Time and Attendance and HRMS/HRIS solutions. We have two web based payroll platforms. One is for smaller companies and many non-profit organizations who are trying to spread every dollar or grant as effectively and efficiently as possible. These organizations usually have one person wearing multiple hats. This solution is typically 10% to 30% less expensive than the major payroll companies but provides Payroll and HR data in one place. It includes an employee self-service portal.
The other is for more intricate companies that have complicated reporting and strategical needs. It is essentially electronic employee files with payroll, benefit and employee information combined in one place. It is typically for companies with over 50 employees who have dedicated Payroll, HR and Benefit employee’s.

Kathy, a founding member of the Executive Transition Services (ETS) team, has over 20 years' experience in the nonprofit sector and derives great satisfaction from working with people in inclusive, empowering, and dynamic teams to create and implement strategies that benefit people, the environment, and our community. She recently served for over five years as executive director of the YWCA Clark County, a Vancouver-based social services and social change organization helping over 11,000 people each year, primarily victim-survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and homelessness. Prior to that, she led several local nonprofits as an interim executive director with the ETS program. She also worked with a variety of nonprofit and government agencies as an independent consultant, facilitating strategic planning, executive transitions, public involvement, fundraising, and board development.

For over five years, she served as a program officer for the Neighborhood Partnership Fund (now Neighborhood Partnerships), which provides financial and technical support to community development organizations in Oregon. While living in New York City, she managed an employment training program for homeless women and was the managing editor of the Journal of Children and Poverty.

Kathy has served on a variety of boards and advisory councils, including as board president for a small organization with a mission to help kids keep themselves safe from bullying and domestic violence. She graduated from Miami University in Ohio, holds a master degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and completed the ten-month Leadership Clark County program in Vancouver.
