This event is provided by Salem Art Association
Rectangles are the mainstay of visual arts. When working on canvas, paper, or board, every artist chooses a size and a proportion. The choice may be conscious or intuitive, but it deeply affects the content of the work. Salem artist Jim Hockenhull will give an illustrated tour of the range of proportions used by many well-known artists. Jim Hockenhull grew up in the Chicago area. He received his BFA degree from the University of Illinois and his MFA degree from the University of Iowa. His work in sculpture, painting, book arts, and digital imaging has been exhibited widely in the United States and abroad. He has taught at the University of Colorado, Washington State University, Colorado College, and University of California, Davis. This event is free and open to the public.
