In 1995 NAO started a the Diversity Leaders Network (now the Equity and Inclusion Leaders Network) to support staff and leaders in nonprofits to increase the diversity and cross cultural effectiveness of those they serve and the makeup of their staff, board and volunteers. Around that same time Portland activists formed organizations such as Latino Network, Basic Rights Oregon, VOZ Workers Education Project, Community Alliance of Tenants, and TACS’s Diversity Leaders Network, now the Equity & Inclusion Leaders Network.

Collectively we have learned a lot in the last two decades. Much has changed and much is the same. How does what we have learned and where we are on this journey point towards our future?

Join EILN’s founders and original champions as well as newer leaders in reflecting on the early work and lessons learned, as well as current challenges, strategies, and visions for an equitable and inclusive future.

NAO Senior Consultant and EILN founder, Cliff Jones, and NAO Senior Consultant Barb Gibbs, will moderate panels of founders, champions and new leaders in this interactive retrospective of our history and path forward.
